TMJ dysfunction

The TMJ is one of the most complex articulations in the whole human body. Its correct functioning, in harmony with an appropriate dental occlusion, depends on the whole correct function of all the oral and dental structure.

Factors such as the stress, being more frequent in our lives, the dental malposition, the maxillary disharmony, could produce dysfunctions in this articulation triggering to bruxism, dental squeezing, excessive wear in teeth, noises, articular clicks, trouble opening the mouth (lockjaw), pain in head, neck between others.

In many occasions the treatment could be a simple confection of miorrelajante programmed splint, but depending in the level of dysfunction, it may be necessary more complex treatments combined with orthodontics, prosthesis or orthodontics or even surgery.
